The Next…What?

DollsSo I’m watching this new reality tv show called Pussycat Dolls: The Next Doll. Now for starters I am not a fan of the Pussycat Dolls. So when I saw commercials for this show the first thought that came to my mind was, “You have GOT to be kidding me.” It is such a cheap show and a publicity stunt.

However, I know that sometimes it is better to observe before you criticize. So I decided to watch an episode tonight. I am not impressed. Maybe it’s just me and the type of person I am, but I just don’t think that people should be striving for something like this.

When one of the contestants was asked why she wanted to be the next ‘doll’ she said that it was because the group gave women empowerment. Now I am all about women, and people in general, to be their own person and not to always rely on other people, but I wouldn’t call what the Pussycat Dolls do women empowerment.

I call what they do dancing like strippers and singing about how they can steal other girls’ boyfriends. Now I am 19 and most girs my age absolutely love them. No offense but I don’t want to sit there and watch a bunch of girls try to get the attention of every male out there by degrading themselves. Plus I would never want my children watching them and wanting to be like them.

Watching each of the contestants all I see are young women who want to win and don’t care about the other contestants. Why would you want anyone, especially your kids, to watch a show that teaches you to care about yourself only and to dance like…well you get the idea.

So ok I’ve done my ranting for the week. I know that most people probably don’t agree with me, but I just had to say voice my thoughts. If anyone agrees with me well feel free to rant with me.
