‘Bridge To Terabithia’ Movie Review
Starring: AnnaSophia Robb, Josh Hutcherson, Zooey Deschanel, Lauren Clinton, and Bailee Madison.
Synopsis:Jess Aarons is an outsider at school and even in his own family at some times. Jess has trained all summer to become the fastest kid in his middle school class but his goal is unexpectedly stopped by the new girl in school, Leslie Burke who competes in the “boys only” race and wins.
Despite their unusual introduction, the two outsiders quickly become best friends. Leslie loves to tell stories of fantasy and magic. Jess loves to draw, but until he met Leslie it was something he kept to himself. Leslie opens a new world of imagination for Jess. Together they create the secret kingdom of Terabithia, a magical place only accessible by swinging on an old rope over a stream in the woods near their homes. There, the friends rule the kingdom, fight the Dark Master and his creatures and plot against the school bullies. Thanks to his friendship with Leslie, Jess is changed for the better.
Review: This movie for young children teaches them to have an imagination and to discover a world of their own. It teaches them not to rely always on the world around them, but to create their own world. AnnaSophia Robb and Josh Hutcherson did a wonderful job playing in this movie.
The cinematics are well done and make the world look beleiveable to us. It is true that overall the movie was done well, but I just have a small problem with it. When I first started watching the movie I thought, “Wow, I can’t wait for my children to see this.” But halfway through I changed my mind completely.
I don’t want to give away the movie to anyone who hasn’t seen it, but I just don’t think that children should have to watch the heartache that is displayed in the movie. I found it depressing and would never want my child to have to watch that in a movie, thinking that it might happen to them some day.
I would definitely recommend watching this movie and then deciding for yourself whether or not you would want your child to watch it.
