Luxury HomeThe Old Hall is a truly fantastic peice of property that is situated within the highly popular village of Kirk Ella to the west of Hull. The house has retained character from its origins and has beautifully proportioned rooms. A house or cottage was acquired by Thomas Howarth, a Hull merchant in 1733. The property of Thomas and Benjamin Howarth was conveyed by the assignees in bankruptcy to Edward Burrow Hull Esq in 1759 and it was perhaps he who rebuilt the house. Burrow, then of Glasgow, sold the house to Richard Beatnisse, Attorney and later Recorder of Hull in 1771 and he to Francis Bine a Hull merchant in 1783.

The house was taxed on 36 windows in the 1770. Bine died in 1787 and his widow Elizabeth in 1789: his trustees sold the house in 1801 to Robert C Pease, a Hull banker who conveyed it in 1806 to Matthew Dobson, a Hull brewer. In 1829 Dobson’s devisees sold it to Fewster Wilkinson, a Hull merchant. The house was enlarged in the mid 19th century.

The house was occupied by the Haworths, by Burrow, by Beatnisse and by Bine. Joseph Wilkinson lived there before 1801 when it was occupied by Mrs Naister and Pease. Dobson lived there from 1806 and his widow Mary until 1827 and from 1828 it was occupied by Fewster.

Some of the amazing features include 12 fireplaces, a timber door double garage, large pebble driveway that allows for private parking , gas fired central heating system, the property also includes a former servants’ quarters/ancillary accommodation including wash room, and cloakroom.

Inside this beautiful house are two bedrooms, sitting rooms and attic rooms. There is also an impressive return oak staircase to first floor and galleried landing incorporating a full height ceiling beautiful leaded and stained glass roof light.
